We are delighted that two 'B' listed buildings known as Burgh House, within the Union Street Conservation Area, will be given a new lease of life now that we have secured Listed Building and Planning consents. Our client proposes to create a high quality residential development on the upper floors, retaining commercial units at street level and creating an urban garden amenity space for residents.
The proposal incorporates significant internal alterations, whilst retaining and preserving the buildings’ existing historic features, along with a contemporary rooftop extension and roof terrace to create additional accommodation. The Archibald Simpson and James Gillespie Graham designed buildings command a prominent position where King Street turns the corner onto Union Street, with great views over the Castlegate from which the residents will benefit. The apartments are sure to be in demand once they are completed, given they will have the character of the old - but with contemporary features and high levels of energy efficiency, in a terrific city centre location.
